An idea whose time has come

The Centre will not house a collection of artefacts. Instead, it will promote learning by doing. Hundreds of exhibits, each fully interactive and designed to demonstrate different principles, will form a key part of the visitor experience.

Across the world, interactive Science Centres are widely used by teachers to support science curriculum teaching and learning.

In addition to the activities within the building, the Science Centre’s Engagement Strategy highlights the national remit of our education programmes. These will encompass formal and informal learning opportunities. Moreover, they will also provide a valuable link between schools and industry in urban and rural locations across Ireland.

This will be a national resource, a hub for best-in-class, interactive learning featuring a broad outreach programme around the country. It is intended that exhibitions will be toured, while the Centre’s website and app will support a rich, stimulating online environment.
